SOOF (Shaping Our Own Future) for Us, formerly known as SOOF for Haiti, is a 501c3 non-profit organization founded by Jeffrey Delva & Nelsen Constantin that was built to provide educational support and raise technological awareness amongst underserved and underprivileged communities with occasional special projects that included the rural parts of Haiti.
Over the past six years, we’ve accomplish these means by providing students with the essential school supplies needed to succeed during the school years and donating technological equipment such as but not limited to desktop computers and laptops while also paying for school tuition for students in Haiti.
SOOF was never built to service Haiti exclusively. However, because of their pride in their Haitian heritage, Nelsen & Jeffrey decided to include Haiti in the organization's name, paying tribute to their homeland.
Recently, we’ve decided to change our organization’s name to be reflective of the work that we do, with a continued dedication to us, a word that knows no boundaries and inclusive of everyone despite the fact that we still have many special projects in Haiti occasionally.
In addition, the recent name modification did not change the original plan, as a matter of fact, it expanded and embolden it. And that is to raise technological awareness while also advocating especially for minorities to consider career paths in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, and Finance; career paths that are data driven.
What we can measure, we can change, but not everything unchanged is because it can't be measured but because we lack the compassion and willingness to do so.
To help raise awareness of the benefits of career paths in Science, Technology, Engineering, Math, & Finance while fostering an interest in data & analytics particularly amongst minorities.
We envision creating a movement that will foster an atmosphere that allows young children to feel comfortable & cool to be intelligent
